Grief & Loss

About Grief & Loss

Grief is like walking through a fog—you know the world is still there, but everything feels muted, heavy, and unclear. Losing what is loved changes us at a very core level. It can feel like one would never feel whole again. It can also make even the simplest things—like eating, sleeping, or talking—feel overwhelming.

Grief isn’t only about losing a person. It can also be the loss of a relationship, a pet, a dream, a job, or even a version of yourself or the life you imagined. Because of this, grief is deeply personal and complex — there is no “right” way to grieve, only your way.

In therapy, we’ll create space for your pain, honor your emotions without judgment, and walk with you at your pace as you slowly find meaning, healing, and gentle acceptance.

What is grief, really?

Grief is our natural response to losing someone or something we deeply cared about. It’s not just sadness—it can feel like emptiness, anger, guilt, numbness, or even relief. Everyone experiences grief differently, and there’s no “right way” to grieve.

How long will it take for me to feel better?

There’s no set timeline. Grief isn’t something we “get over”—we learn to carry it differently over time. With support, the pain becomes less sharp, and you can find ways to live fully while still honoring your loss.

Do I need therapy for grief?

Not everyone who grieves needs therapy. But if you feel stuck, isolated, or if your grief is making it hard to function, therapy can help you process emotions, feel supported, and find healthy ways to move forward.

What does grief therapy involve?

Together, we’ll talk about your loss, make space for your feelings (even the ones you might be avoiding), and explore ways to cope. Sometimes that means telling the story of your loss, sometimes it’s about learning grounding skills, and sometimes it’s simply about having someone sit with you in your pain.
