About Anxiety

Anxiety is like an overactive smoke alarm, that rings loudly even when there’s no real fire.
It can feel like your mind never stops spinning, your body is tense, and small things feel overwhelming. Sleep becomes elusive, and calm feels out of reach.

If anxiety is taking over your days, your thoughts, your sleep — you’re not alone. In therapy, we’ll gently understand what’s driving it and build skills to help you feel safe, calm, and back in control.

Anxiety is a natural response to stress, but it becomes problematic when it’s persistent, intense, and interferes with daily life.
Clinically, anxiety disorders affect the way we think, feel, and behave — often involving dysregulation of the nervous system and cognitive distortions.

Evidence-based treatments such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness have shown strong results in managing anxiety. Many people begin to feel a shift within a few sessions of regular therapy.

I support individuals dealing with:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Panic attacks and Panic Disorder
  • Social anxiety
  • Phobias (like fear of flying, driving, public speaking)
  • Health anxiety
  • OCD and intrusive thoughts

Anxiety can show up differently for each person. You might notice:

  • Racing thoughts, constant worry, or mental “what if” loops
  • Trouble sleeping or relaxing
  • Physical symptoms like a fast heartbeat, tight chest, or stomach issues
  • Feeling restless, irritable, or emotionally exhausted

If you’re feeling stuck in these patterns, you’re not alone — and therapy can help.

I take an integrative approach, depending on your needs. This may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns.
  • Mindfulness and somatic techniques – to ground you in the present and regulate your nervous system.
  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to help you build psychological flexibility and take values-based actions.
  • Emotional processing and self-compassion work — so you can stop fighting your feelings and start listening to them.

Not at all. We’ll go at your pace. You don’t need to have the “right words” — just a willingness to begin. Therapy is a space to feel safe, heard, and supported without pressure.

If anxiety is affecting the major areas of your life like your sleep, focus, relationships, or sense of peace — it may be time to get support. You don’t need to wait for things to get worse. The earlier you reach out, the sooner relief becomes possible.

The healing process is different for everyone. It depends on various factors like intensity of what you’re experiencing, whether medical support is needed, and your own readiness and engagement with the process. What I can promise is that with consistent support, small steps will begin to feel lighter — and we’ll walk this path together, at your pace.
